Überblick : Eigentlich müsste Craig mit seinem Leben zufrieden sein. Der 16-Jährige ist gesund, hat Freunde, lebt in einer intakten Familie und geht an eine renommierte Privatschule. Und dennoch stimmt etwas nicht mit ihm. Craig plagen seit einiger Zeit Selbstmordgedanken. Diese werden so konkret, dass er sich freiwillig in eine Brooklyner Nervenheilanstalt einweisen lässt. Dort stellt man ihn fünf Tage unter Beobachtung – allerdings in der Erwachsenenstation, denn die Abteilung für Jugendliche wird gerade renoviert. Zwischen den schwer gestörten Mitpatienten fühlt sich Craig völlig fehl am Platz, bis er die Bekanntschaft mit dem sympathischen Bobby macht. Der Spaßvogel nimmt den Jungen unter seine Fittiche. Doch Bobby verschweigt Craig seine eigenen Probleme, die plötzlich in aller Heftigkeit zum Vorschein kommen.
